Spring Training
Spring is, without a doubt, my favorite season. It’s a time when we seem to awaken from our hibernation with renewed energy and drive. Celebrated Living’s “Sporting Life” issue is packed with ideas and inspiration to help get you moving. We focus on themes of health, wellness, sports, and fitness — and, of course, weave plenty of travel in as well.
Matthew McConaughey makes it look so easy, taking a simple, nononsense approach to health and fitness, as you’ll see in his enlightening cover story. Less sports focused, but an enormous trend in travel right now, villa vacations are the way to stay these days. We’ve done a lot of the research and legwork for you in our feature story, “It Takes a Villa,” complete with several examples of terrific villas to try.
Another feature article, “On Location,” is a must-see showcase profiling six of the best outdoor sports photographers. We show off some of their spectacular images capturing breathtaking sports in equally impressive destinations — quite a combination. These photographers were humble about their qualifications, but most of them are absolute masters in the sports they photograph — they have to be in order to get those amazing shots. Norbert Wu, for example, is a well-known underwater photographer and expert diver. The image he shares with us on page 66 is from the most memorable underwater experience he’s had in 25 years of photography.
Elsewhere in this issue, writer and sports enthusiast Ken McAlpine compiles 20 unique sports and fitness activities around the globe, many of which are more convenient and closer to that next business meeting than you might think.
Covering all the bases for the sporting theme, we also bring you coverage on the sometimes-lucrative business of collecting sports memorabilia. And if you haven’t golfed in Hong Kong lately, you’ll want to add that to your wish list after reading what’s happening to the game there. Be sure to check out our website, www.celebratedliving.com, and click on “Furthermore” for exclusive web content including a sports spectator’s dream calendar, ranging from baseball spring training to the Masters, the Stanley cup, and more.
Celebrated Living’s spring issue can be summed up by borrowing some thoughtful words from photographer Peter Potterfield’s contribution on page 62. The message is simple: get off the couch and go experience these amazing places. We hope this magazine inspires you to do just that.
