A cold clime is no longer a requirement for skating rinks. At the beach or lodged in a high-rise, the latest ice sheets — sometimes scientifically engineered synthetics that glide without melting — defy the elements, offering singular places to double axel.
Not far from Paris, the
TRIANON PALACE VERSAILLES, THE WALDORF ASTORIA COLLECTION, will unveil an ice-skating rink next door to the royal grounds from December 4 through January 2. A neighboring Christmas market will sell gifts, food, and mulled wine.
